Sanguine 3?

It sure looks that way.

@Ericklost @RayBeckham I'm glad to hear it.
The second was a very good one.
Do you plan to release some of your games like Sanguine or The Gardener to platforms like Steam?.

No. That's a lot of work and there's no money in it. Emulators exist.

The hope for Sanguine 3 would be to create a game that feels nostalgic enough to encompass the first two games while adding enough new stuff that it feels like a proper successor. I feel gross copying anything over and struggle to try and come up with new looks and function to old ideas. Although Goombas haven't changed much over the decades so maybe I need to loosen up.

I love the colors and the small world feel of the Gardener, but i've struggled to come up with a robust gameplan over many years now. The game needs a skill arc, even if very marginal. And character/ability growth. I wouldn't want to try another one without something substantial. Or maybe I should just take the aesthetics and create a completely different game. A dude in a robe chucking auto turrets while he wacks at monsters with a stick just isn't... that... deep. At least in Zelda you can lug around all kinds of cool gadgetry... but I don't want to recreate Zelda.

I've been stewing on making an RPG... but oh-man is that an insurmountable work load for a solo dev. I like the idea of creating a side scrolling couch co-op shooter. But what people my age and older tell me, in less than words, is that it's time to stop.

@Ericklost @RayBeckham @RayBeckham Good luck with your projects then :)
Sanguine 2 was an amazing sequel, the third game should be equally good,if not even better.

@Ericklost @RayBeckham I was just playing through Sanguine 1 and 2 on an emulator tonight and decided to check out your page on a whim. Glad to see you're still posting here. Even if you never make another Sanguine, the first two have some of the most interesting gameplay, art, and world of any flash game out there and they're one of the few I'll still replay. I'm too big a pleb to ever beat either, but I wanted to thank you for making them.

OOOOh Sanguine 3 in the work ?

Yes.

Oh Looks intresting

¡Hi! it's pretty exciting and interesting that Sanguine 3 is in progress, I couldn't think this may someday be possible.

I see some little details that may come in handy for the player experience in the game, one of them is that whenever a human spots Eleanor, instead of reacting instantly at shooting Eleanor, they delay a few seconds to react, making them more "Human-ish" and more realistic (Just like in Sanguine 2).

And the other one is that if it's possible, you can add a train level like the one in Sanguine Classic, as it'll be awesome to revive the nostalgic feelings of the first two games and its "Vibes" (The old Ages)

Above all of these suggestions, I'm taking into consideration that this game project is still in progress, and I also know that many people doesn't know it exists; But I hope that you feel the same as your little community feels about your game, and I also hope that you're feeling healthy whether physically and mentally.

I humbly wish that someday you could see my comment Ray Beckam.

¡Best Regards!

Heya, Chillviber.

In Sanguine 3, humans have an exclamation point that appears above their head and fills up yellow when Eleanor is in sight. When it completes, they fire on her. And the closer that Eleanor is to a human, the faster the exclamation point gauge fills up. Humans can't shoot through terrain anymore and if Eleanor remains hidden for about 4-5 seconds, they return to patrol mode. Humans fire more aggressively and can sometimes combo the player to death, so stealth is that much more important. Bushes, trees, barrels, gravestones, curtains and boat sails are all elements Eleanor can and will need to sneak behind.

I don't think I have any room for a train in Sanguine 3. I was thinking about it at one point, but there isn't much I can do creatively with box cars for level design and I felt it wasn't a very good return on work put in. I also thought about going inside the box cars, but again, I thought the interiors would be rather limited and a lot of work to make look good for something I couldn't do much with. As a solo developer, I always have to think about how to budget my time. It'd be cool to do, it's just a struggle as is. I hope that with the stages i've made that i've struck a balance between nostalgia and something new.

Thank you for your well wishes. Right back at ya.

¡Greetings @RayBeckham !

I incredibly appreciate the fact that you took some little time and effort to explain further how the game will be in progress. Both Sanguine Classic and Sanguine 2 are one of my favourite games, and this means so much to me even though this game isn't well known.

About the Human's reaction towards Eleanor, everything you've written about the new characteristics of the game development are all assertive and considerable, as this will allow the game experience to be more "realistic" and harder, and especially the fact that stealth will be necessary for the game progress through more features.

And about the case of the Train Level, I understand your decision; As this will take a lot of work to make these details (and, if I'm not wrong, Sanguine 3 is approaching its release), I don't know how programming and game-design works, but certainly, I can imagine that it's hard work (And surely Procrastination can be an obstacle).

I hope that you see these project just like I and your tiny community sees about your games, and that this game series doesn't mean something bad for you and your mental health.

Once again, I'm grateful and delighted by your comment.

Thank you, stay tuned.
